Wildcard support for SSL and redirects
Hi! Nico (Acolono) asked me if I could create this ticket
I already asked something related to it in mattermost, but yes, it would be nice if we have a ticket for that, so we can see what possibilities, options, etc are.
So, we have a case where the client wants all subdomains (except www) to be redirected to the website homepage. ie:
https://something.example.com -> https://www.example.com
https://somethingelse.example.com -> https://www.example.com
https://whatever.example.com -> https://www.example.com
As we already concluded in mattermost, something like:
docker4drupal:
domain: example.com
aliases:
- '*.example.com'
cannot be used in this case.
Do you think we can implement something into lakedrops, so it is possible to achieve this?
Jürgen's message from mattermost:
Those aliases are used in 2 areas: for trusted domain configuration in Drupal and in Traefik they are used for routeing, redirects and SSL generation. I guess none of them supports wildcards. And if you want to issue wildcard SSL certs with LetsEncrypt, then you have to use DNS verification method, which requires a DNS host which allows automation, otherwise all this automation fails.
