The stock image `mysql/mysql-server` doesn't seem to be well configured. We either need to tune the settings or find a better image from a different source. Boris pointed me to `docksal/mysql` which seems to be much better out of the box. Ralf pointed to `drud/ddev-dbserver-mysql-8.0` Once completed, we should also apply those changes to `lakedrops/docker4php`
